Nana Furiya (born 1961) is a Japanese picture-book artist and illustrator from Tokyo. She made her picture-book debut in 1985 by illustrating Mekkiramokkira Dondon, written by Setsuko Hasegawa. In 1992, she moved to Slovakia and studied printmaking and illustration under Dusan Kallay at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, later establishing her creative base in the country. Her illustrations use vivid colors, bold compositions, and expressive animal characters to convey humor and changes in the characters’ emotions. In the representative picture book Tomodachiya, written by Rintaro Uchida, a fox starts charging customers for his friendship but gradually learns through an encounter with a wolf that genuine friendship cannot be bought or sold.
