堀川 惠子（ほりかわ けいこ、1969年生まれ）は、日本のノンフィクション作家。広島テレビ放送で報道記者、ディレクターとして勤務した後、フリーランスとしてドキュメンタリー制作と執筆活動に携わる。死刑制度や司法、戦争、原爆、近現代史、医療などをテーマに、綿密な取材と資料調査を通じて、歴史や社会の中に埋もれた個人の人生を描き出す作品で高く評価されている。『死刑の基準』で講談社ノンフィクション賞、『原爆供養塔』で大宅壮一ノンフィクション賞、『暁の宇品』で大佛次郎賞を受賞するなど、数々の文学賞・ジャーナリズム賞を受賞。現代日本を代表するノンフィクション作家の一人として知られている。

Keiko Horikawa (born 1969) is a Japanese nonfiction writer. After working as a news reporter and television director at Hiroshima Television Broadcasting, she became a freelance documentary filmmaker and writer. Her work explores subjects including the death penalty and the justice system, war, the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, modern Japanese history, and healthcare. Known for her meticulous research and extensive reporting, Horikawa brings to light the lives of individuals often overlooked in conventional historical narratives. She has received numerous literary and journalism honors, including the Kodansha Nonfiction Award, the Soichi Oya Nonfiction Award, and the Osaragi Jiro Prize, and is widely regarded as one of Japan’s leading contemporary nonfiction writers.
