Takafumi Horie (born 1972) is a Japanese entrepreneur and investor from Fukuoka Prefecture. While studying at the University of Tokyo, he founded the internet company On the Edge in 1996 and later served as president of Livedoor. He was arrested in 2006 for securities-law violations, received a prison sentence, and resumed his business activities after his release. His subsequent projects have encompassed private rocket development, preventive medicine, mobile services, food businesses, online communities, and digital media. His representative book, “Zero: Nani mo Nai Jibun ni Chiisana Ichi o Tashite Iku,” combines an account of his rise, setbacks, and imprisonment with the argument that failure returns a person to zero rather than placing them below it, and that rebuilding begins by adding small actions one at a time.
