ベンチ・アンスフィールド（Bench Ansfield）は、アメリカの歴史家。人種、資本主義、都市史を専門とし、とりわけ20世紀後半のアメリカ都市における住宅政策や金融、市民運動の歴史を研究している。イェール大学でアメリカ研究の博士号を取得し、現在はテンプル大学歴史学部助教授を務める。代表作『Born in Flames: The Business of Arson and the Remaking of the American City』（未邦訳）は、1970年代のアメリカで相次いだ放火事件の多くが保険金目的の地主によるものであったことを明らかにし、人種差別、金融資本、都市再開発が交錯する構造を描き出した作品である。刊行後はロサンゼルス・タイムズ図書賞を受賞し、アニスフィールド＝ウルフ賞やピュリッツァー賞の最終候補にも選ばれるなど、高い評価を受けた。
Bench Ansfield is an American historian whose research examines race, capitalism, and the transformation of modern American cities. An assistant professor of history at Temple University, they earned a PhD in American Studies from Yale University, where their dissertation received the Allan Nevins Prize for the best dissertation in American history. Their first book, *Born in Flames: The Business of Arson and the Remaking of the American City*, reveals how profit-driven landlord arson, insurance systems, and urban redevelopment reshaped American cities in the 1970s. Widely acclaimed, the book won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and was shortlisted for the Pulitzer Prize, the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award, and several other major honors.
