パトリシア・エバンヘリスタ（Patricia Evangelista） フィリピンのジャーナリスト、ドキュメンタリー制作者。マニラを拠点に、人権、紛争、災害、国家暴力を長年取材し、報道機関『Rappler』や『Esquire Philippines』などで活動してきた。現場に寄り添う粘り強い取材と文学性を備えたルポルタージュで国際的に知られ、2014年には優れた若手特派員に贈られるケイト・ウェッブ賞を受賞した。代表作『Some People Need Killing: A Memoir of Murder in My Country』（未邦訳）は、ロドリゴ・ドゥテルテ政権下の「麻薬戦争」で起きた超法規的殺害を、被害者や遺族、加害者への取材をもとに描いたノンフィクションである。権力と暴力、恐怖、そして民主主義の脆さを鋭く描き出した本書は、『ニューヨーク・タイムズ』の「2023年ベスト10ブック」に選ばれ、TIME誌の「Must-Read Books of 2023」にも選出された。
Patricia Evangelista is a Filipina journalist and documentary filmmaker based in Manila. Her reporting focuses on human rights, conflict, disasters, and political violence, and she has written for *Rappler* and *Esquire Philippines*. Known for immersive reporting and powerful literary nonfiction, she received the 2014 Kate Webb Prize for outstanding journalism. Her debut book, *Some People Need Killing: A Memoir of Murder in My Country*, chronicles the extrajudicial killings carried out during Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs through firsthand reporting and personal reflection.
