Harvey Whitehouse（ハーヴィー・ホワイトハウス、1956年生まれ）は、イギリスの人類学者、認知科学者、ノンフィクション作家。University of Oxford社会人類学教授。専門は認知人類学、宗教、人類の協力行動、アイデンティティ、儀礼で、人間社会における集団形成や協力の仕組みを進化論や認知科学の視点から研究している。フィールドワークと実験研究を組み合わせた学際的なアプローチで知られ、宗教や戦争、政治運動など、多様な集団行動を説明する理論の構築に大きく貢献してきた。学術研究と一般向け著作の双方を通じて、人間社会の結束や対立の起源を探究する世界的な研究者の一人として高く評価されている。

Harvey Whitehouse (born 1956) is a British anthropologist, cognitive scientist, and nonfiction author. He is Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on cognitive anthropology, religion, ritual, identity, and the evolution of human cooperation, examining how shared beliefs and experiences shape social groups. Renowned for combining ethnographic fieldwork with experimental methods, Whitehouse has made major contributions to the understanding of collective behavior, social cohesion, and the psychological foundations of human societies. Through both his academic scholarship and accessible nonfiction, he has become one of the world's leading interpreters of the origins of cooperation, conflict, and cultural evolution.
