Yoshikazu Hasegawa (1930–2026) was a Japanese paleontologist specializing in fossil vertebrates. He worked as a researcher at the National Science Museum, served as a professor at Yokohama National University, and became the founding director of the Gunma Museum of Natural History. His research encompassed fossil mammals such as the Naumann elephant, as well as dinosaurs and marine reptiles discovered across Japan, while his museum work helped expand paleontological research and public education. In his representative book Futabasuzukiryu Hakkutsu Monogatari, Hasegawa recounts the investigation of the marine-reptile fossil discovered in Fukushima Prefecture in 1968, tracing the work from excavation and skeletal reconstruction to its formal recognition as the new genus and species Futabasaurus suzukii.
