バリー・ロペス（Barry Lopez、1945–2020）は、アメリカの作家、ナチュラリスト。自然、環境、人間と土地との関係をテーマにした作品で知られ、科学的知見と文学的感性を融合させたノンフィクションによって、現代のネイチャーライティングを代表する存在となった。北極圏をはじめ世界各地を旅し、その土地に暮らす人々や野生動物、自然環境を深い洞察と美しい文章で描き、多くの読者に自然への新たな視点を提示してきた。代表作『極北の夢』では、北極圏の自然、生態系、先住民族の文化を通して、人間と自然との関わりを壮大な視点で描き、1986年の全米図書賞（ノンフィクション部門）を受賞した。

Barry Lopez (1945–2020) was an American author and naturalist. Widely regarded as one of the foremost writers on nature and the environment, he combined scientific observation with lyrical prose to explore the relationship between people, landscapes, and the living world. His travels to the Arctic and other remote regions inspired works that have had a lasting influence on environmental literature. His best-known book, *Arctic Dreams*, examines the ecology, wildlife, and Indigenous cultures of the Arctic while reflecting on humanity's place within nature. The book won the 1986 National Book Award for Nonfiction.
