Masami Endo is a Japanese translator working on publishing and commercial translation in economics, management, and finance. She translated Richard Thaler’s “Misbehaving,” an account of the development of behavioral economics through observations that challenged assumptions of consistently rational economic behavior. In Thaler and Cass Sunstein’s “Nudge,” including its final edition, she translated discussions of how the presentation of choices and the design of institutions influence decisions while preserving freedom of choice. She also translated Erik Angner’s “How Economics Can Save the World.” Addressing issues including parenting, organ transplantation, and conflict, that book examines how evidence, experiments, and institutional design can be applied to social problems. These translations followed the connections between economic ideas, individual decisions, and public policy.
