Hernan Diaz（エルナン・ディアス、1973年生まれ）は、アルゼンチン生まれのアメリカの小説家、文学研究者。幼少期をスウェーデンで過ごした後、アルゼンチンを経てアメリカに移住した。ニューヨーク大学で博士号（Ph.D.）を取得し、19世紀文学や比較文学を研究するとともに、小説家として国際的な評価を得ている。歴史、資本主義、金融、権力、物語の構造を独創的な手法で描く作品で知られ、現代英語文学を代表する作家の一人とされる。デビュー作『In the Distance』（2017）はピューリッツァー賞 フィクション部門の最終候補となり、2022年刊行の『Trust』は、富と金融資本、真実と語りをめぐる革新的な長編として高く評価され、2023年のピューリッツァー賞 フィクション部門を受賞した。著書に『In the Distance』『Trust』がある。
Hernan Diaz (born 1973) is an Argentine-born American novelist and literary scholar. After spending part of his childhood in Sweden and later returning to Argentina, he settled in the United States. He earned a Ph.D. from New York University, specializing in nineteenth-century and comparative literature, before establishing himself as one of the leading voices in contemporary fiction. His novels explore history, capitalism, finance, power, and the nature of storytelling through innovative narrative structures. His debut novel, In the Distance (2017), was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, while his second novel, Trust (2022), won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for its inventive examination of wealth, financial capitalism, and the construction of truth. His published novels include In the Distance and Trust.
