Erik H. Erikson（エリック・H・エリクソン、1902–1994）は、ドイツ生まれのアメリカの精神分析学者、発達心理学者。ハーバード大学教授などを歴任し、生涯にわたる人格発達を説明する心理社会的発達理論を提唱したことで知られる。ジークムント・フロイトの精神分析理論を発展させ、乳幼児期から老年期までの八つの発達段階と「アイデンティティ」の概念を体系化し、現代の心理学、教育学、社会学に大きな影響を与えた。1969年刊行の『Gandhi's Truth』は、マハトマ・ガンディーの生涯を心理学と歴史学の視点から分析した画期的な研究として高く評価され、1970年のピューリッツァー賞 一般ノンフィクション部門および全米図書賞を受賞した。著書に『Childhood and Society』『Identity: Youth and Crisis』『Gandhi's Truth』などがある。

Erik H. Erikson (1902–1994) was a German-born American psychoanalyst and developmental psychologist. He served on the faculty of Harvard University and became one of the most influential figures in twentieth-century psychology through his theory of psychosocial development. Building on the work of Sigmund Freud, Erikson introduced the concept of identity and proposed the eight stages of human development, profoundly shaping modern psychology, education, and social science. His book Gandhi's Truth, a psychological and historical study of Mahatma Gandhi, won both the 1970 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction and the National Book Award. His other notable works include Childhood and Society and Identity: Youth and Crisis, both of which remain classics in developmental psychology.
