エミリー・カーペンター（Emily Carpenter）は、アメリカの小説家。アラバマ州バーミングハムで生まれ育ち、オーバーン大学卒業後、ニューヨークで俳優、プロデューサー、脚本家、テレビドラマの制作スタッフなどを経験した。アメリカ南部を舞台に、家族の秘密や過去から受け継がれた傷、宗教などを題材としたサスペンスやサザン・ゴシックを手がけている。デビュー作『Burying the Honeysuckle Girls』（未邦訳）では、母を亡くし依存症治療を終えた女性アルシアが故郷アラバマへ戻り、自分の家系の女性たちをめぐる不可解な死と、長く隠されてきた家族の秘密を追っていく。南部の土地と家族の歴史を背景に、過去を知らないまま生きてきた女性が、自らの家系に何が起きたのかをたどる物語を描いている。
Emily Carpenter is an American novelist known for suspense and Southern Gothic fiction. Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, she graduated from Auburn University and later worked as an actor, producer, screenwriter, and behind-the-scenes television drama assistant in New York. Her fiction often explores family secrets, inherited trauma, religion, and the darker side of life in the American South. Her debut novel, "Burying the Honeysuckle Girls," follows Althea Bell as she returns to her family home in Alabama after leaving rehab and begins investigating a disturbing pattern of deaths among the women in her family. Combining a family mystery with a Southern Gothic atmosphere, the novel traces Althea's attempt to uncover a past that has shaped her life without her knowing it.
