Elizabeth Hinton（エリザベス・ヒントン）は、アメリカの歴史学者、作家。Yale University教授。アメリカ近現代史、アフリカ系アメリカ人史、人種と刑事司法、貧困政策を専門とし、公民権運動以降のアメリカ社会における人種的不平等や警察活動、犯罪政策の歴史を研究している。綿密な公文書調査と社会史的分析を組み合わせた研究で高く評価され、とりわけ1960年代以降の「法と秩序」政策や大量収監の歴史的背景を解明した研究は、現代アメリカ史研究に大きな影響を与えている。著書や論文は学術界だけでなく広く一般読者にも読まれ、人種、民主主義、司法制度をめぐる現代的な議論に重要な視点を提供している。
Elizabeth Hinton is an American historian and author whose research focuses on modern United States history, African American history, race, criminal justice, and social policy. She is Professor of History and African American Studies at Yale University. Combining extensive archival research with social and political analysis, Hinton examines the historical roots of racial inequality, policing, mass incarceration, and the expansion of the American criminal justice system after the civil rights era. Her scholarship has significantly reshaped understanding of the relationship between race, public policy, and state power in modern America. Through her books, essays, and public engagement, Hinton has become one of the leading historians of race and criminal justice in the United States.
