エレナ・フェッランテ（Elena Ferrante）は、イタリアの小説家。正体を公表せずに執筆活動を続ける現代文学を代表する作家の一人であり、女性の友情、家族、階級、暴力、アイデンティティを鋭く描いた作品で国際的な評価を得ている。ナポリを舞台にした壮大な物語で世界的な読者を獲得し、その作品は50以上の言語に翻訳されている。代表作『ナポリの物語』四部作では、エレナとリラという二人の女性の半世紀にわたる人生を通して、戦後イタリア社会の変化と女性たちの成長を描き、2016年に四部作の完結編『失われた子ども』でイタリア人作家として初めてタイム誌の「ベスト小説トップ10」の第1位に選ばれるなど、現代文学の傑作として広く読み継がれている。
Elena Ferrante is an Italian novelist whose true identity remains undisclosed. Widely regarded as one of the most important contemporary writers, she is celebrated for her penetrating explorations of female friendship, family, class, violence, and identity. Her novels, particularly those set in Naples, have attracted a global readership and have been translated into more than fifty languages. Her best-known work, the *Neapolitan Novels* quartet, follows the lifelong friendship between Elena Greco and Lila Cerullo against the backdrop of postwar Italy.
