エガナ・ジャバロワ（1992年–）は、ロシアのエカテリンブルクでアゼルバイジャン人家庭に生まれた詩人、エッセイスト、研究者。複数の詩集を刊行し、LGBTQの権利擁護活動とウクライナ侵攻への反対を理由に2024年にロシアを離れ、現在はドイツのハンブルクで暮らしている。初の長編小説『My Dreadful Body』（未邦訳）は、伝統的なアゼルバイジャン人共同体で育った若い女性が、痛みや発話障害、筋肉を制御できない症状を伴う原因不明の病と向き合う物語である。結婚を期待された娘が病によって共同体の規範から外れていく一方、その隔絶が自らの身体と人生を取り戻す道を開くという逆説を描いている。リサ・C・ヘイデンによる英訳は、2026年全米図書賞翻訳文学部門のロングリストに選ばれた。

Egana Djabbarova (born 1992) is a Russian-born poet, essayist, and scholar raised in an Azerbaijani family in Yekaterinburg. The author of several poetry collections, she was forced to leave Russia in 2024 because of her LGBTQ activism and opposition to the war in Ukraine, and now lives in Hamburg, Germany. Her debut novel, “My Dreadful Body,” follows a young woman in a traditional Azerbaijani community who develops an undiagnosed illness causing pain, speech difficulties, and loss of muscular control. As her condition pushes her beyond the community’s expectations of a marriageable daughter, it also opens an unexpected path toward bodily and personal autonomy. Lisa C. Hayden’s translation from Russian was longlisted for the 2026 National Book Award for Translated Literature.
