エドワード・デボノは、考えることを学習できる技能としてとらえた医師・著述家。医学研究から思考の仕組みへ関心を広げ、既存の見方をずらして新しい発想を生む「水平思考」を提唱した。『頭脳のメカニズム』で示した心のモデルを土台に、教育や組織で活用するための思考の手法を発展させた。

Edward de Bono was a physician and author who treated thinking as a skill that can be learned. His medical research led him to examine the mind as a self-organizing system and develop lateral thinking. The model presented in The Mechanism of Mind informed practical methods for generating ideas and approaching problems in education and organizations.
