エドワード・スタイケン（Edward Steichen、1879–1973） 写真家、美術館学芸員。ルクセンブルク生まれ。幼少期にアメリカへ移住し、20世紀を代表する写真家の一人として活躍した。絵画主義写真の先駆者として名声を築いた後、『ヴォーグ』や『ヴァニティ・フェア』でファッションや肖像写真を手がけ、第二次世界大戦後はニューヨーク近代美術館（MoMA）写真部門のディレクターとして写真芸術の発展に大きく貢献した。代表作『人間家族』（原題: "The Family of Man"）は、1955年にニューヨーク近代美術館で開催された同名写真展をもとに刊行され、人類に共通する暮らしや喜び、悲しみを世界各地の写真で表現した写真集である。
Edward Steichen (1879–1973) was a Luxembourg-born American photographer and museum curator. One of the most influential photographers of the twentieth century, he first gained recognition as a pioneer of Pictorialism before becoming a celebrated fashion and portrait photographer for *Vogue* and *Vanity Fair*. After World War II, he served as Director of the Department of Photography at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, where he helped establish photography as a major art form. His best-known work, "The Family of Man," accompanied the landmark 1955 MoMA exhibition and presented a photographic vision of the shared experiences of humanity.
