Edward P. Jones（エドワード・P・ジョーンズ、1950年生まれ）は、アメリカの小説家、短編作家。ホーリークロス大学卒業後、会計士として働きながら創作活動を始めた。アフリカ系アメリカ人の歴史や共同体、奴隷制、人種、自由と人間の尊厳をテーマに、緻密な人物描写と重層的な物語で描く作品で高く評価され、現代アメリカ文学を代表する作家の一人とされる。1992年刊行の短編集『Lost in the City』で高い評価を受け、2003年刊行の『The Known World』は、南北戦争前のアメリカ南部を舞台に、黒人奴隷所有者という複雑な歴史的現実を描いた長編小説として絶賛され、2004年のピューリッツァー賞 フィクション部門を受賞した。著書に『Lost in the City』『The Known World』『All Aunt Hagar's Children』などがある。
Edward P. Jones (born 1950) is an American novelist and short story writer. After graduating from College of the Holy Cross, he worked as an accountant while developing his career as a writer. Widely regarded as one of the foremost contemporary American authors, Jones is celebrated for his richly layered fiction exploring African American history, slavery, race, freedom, and the complexities of human dignity. His debut short-story collection, Lost in the City (1992), established his literary reputation, while his novel The Known World (2003), an ambitious portrayal of a Black slaveholder in the antebellum American South, won the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. His other notable works include Lost in the City and All Aunt Hagar's Children, both acclaimed for their vivid portrayals of African American life and community.
