Edward Chisholm is a British writer and screenwriter. Born in Dorset, England, he graduated from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London and moved to Paris in 2012. While pursuing a writing career, he worked as a waiter, bartender, museum security guard, and market hand. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, and the Financial Times magazine. His 2022 memoir, “A Waiter in Paris: Adventures in the Dark Heart of the City,” draws on his restaurant work to portray long hours, low wages, competition for tips, and relationships among staff, revealing the lives behind the city’s celebrated dining culture. Published in 2026, “Murder in Paris ’68: A True Story of Death and Glamour” investigates the killing of Stevan Markovic, an associate of actor Alain Delon. The book was longlisted for the 2026 Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction. Following the case through the intersecting worlds of cinema, organised crime, politics, and journalism, Chisholm examines how celebrity and power shaped the investigation and public opinion in late-1960s France.
