あさのあつこ(1954年生まれ)は、日本の小説家、児童文学作家。青山学院大学文学部卒業。小学校講師を経て、1991年に『ほたる館物語』でデビューした。少年野球を題材にした『バッテリー』は累計1000万部を超えるベストセラーとなり、野間児童文芸賞、小学館児童出版文化賞を受賞。映画、テレビドラマ、アニメ化もされ、代表作として広く親しまれている。児童文学に加え、青春小説、SF、時代小説など幅広いジャンルで活躍し、『NO.6』シリーズや『弥勒』シリーズなど、多彩な作品を発表している。緻密な心理描写と人間の成長を描く物語で、幅広い世代の読者から支持を集めている。

Atsuko Asano (born 1954) is a Japanese novelist and children's author whose works span children's literature, coming-of-age fiction, science fiction, and historical novels. After graduating from Aoyama Gakuin University and working as an elementary school teacher, she made her literary debut in 1991 with "Hotaru-kan Monogatari." Her bestselling "Battery" series, which has sold more than ten million copies, won both the Noma Prize for Juvenile Literature and the Shogakukan Children's Publication Culture Award, and has been adapted into a film, television drama, and anime.
