Antti Tuomainen (born 1971) is a Finnish novelist known for combining crime fiction with black comedy and absurd situations. After working as an award-winning copywriter, he turned to fiction and established himself as a distinctive voice in Finnish crime writing. While his novels deal with murder, danger, and moral uncertainty, they frequently introduce eccentric characters, deadpan humor, and comic disruptions that depart from the darker conventions associated with Nordic noir. In "The Rabbit Factor," insurance actuary Henri Koskinen unexpectedly loses his job and inherits his brother's adventure park, along with its financial troubles and dangerous criminal connections. Accustomed to understanding the world through probability and calculation, Henri finds himself confronting a business, relationships, and romance that refuse to follow mathematical rules, as the novel combines the structure of a crime thriller with dark comedy.
