Ann-Sophie Barwich（アン＝ソフィー・バーヴィッチ）は、ドイツ生まれの科学哲学者、認知神経科学者。Indiana University Bloomington准教授を経て、2025年よりHarvard Radcliffe InstituteのMary I. Bunting Fellowを務める。フンボルト大学ベルリンで文学と哲学を学び、University of Exeterで科学哲学の博士号を取得した。専門は科学哲学、認知神経科学、嗅覚研究で、哲学と実験科学を融合させた学際的研究を展開している。とりわけ「嗅覚」を手がかりに、知覚や脳、科学的発見のプロセスを再考する研究で国際的に高い評価を受けている。著書に『Smellosophy: What the Nose Tells the Mind（嗅覚哲学）』があり、嗅覚を通して人間の知覚と脳の働きを読み解く意欲的な一冊として広く注目を集めた。
Ann-Sophie Barwich is a German-born philosopher of science and cognitive neuroscientist. She is a Mary I. Bunting Fellow at the Harvard Radcliffe Institute and was previously an Associate Professor in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine and the Cognitive Science Program at Indiana University Bloomington. After studying philosophy and German literature at Humboldt University of Berlin, she earned her Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Exeter. Her interdisciplinary research combines philosophy, neuroscience, and laboratory studies to investigate perception, with a particular focus on the sense of smell. Widely recognized for challenging vision-centered models of cognition, she has argued that olfaction offers a powerful framework for rethinking how the brain represents and interprets the world. Her book "Smellosophy: What the Nose Tells the Mind" has been widely praised for bridging neuroscience, philosophy, and the science of perception.
