Angela Flournoy is an American novelist. She studied at the University of Southern California and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and has taught at institutions including Princeton University and UCLA. Her debut novel, “The Turner House,” which follows a large Black family in Detroit, was a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction and won the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award. Her second novel, “The Wilderness,” traces two decades in the friendships of five Black women living in New York and Los Angeles as they navigate careers, marriage, motherhood, economic inequality, and a changing American society.
