アンドリュー・J・ベイセヴィッチは、アメリカの国際関係史・軍事史研究者。陸軍士官学校を卒業後、米陸軍将校として23年間勤務し、退役後はボストン大学で国際関係史と外交史を教えた。軍事介入の抑制と外交を重視するクインシー研究所の共同創設者でもある。『アメリカ・力の限界』（The Limits of Power: The End of American Exceptionalism）は、際限のない消費、肥大化する行政権力、軍事力への過度な依存を、アメリカが直面する相互に結びついた危機として論じた著作である。軍事的優位によって国際秩序を主導できるという発想を批判し、国力の限界を認識した外交政策への転換を求めている。
Andrew J. Bacevich is an American historian of international relations and military affairs. A graduate of the United States Military Academy, he served for twenty-three years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army before teaching international relations and diplomatic history at Boston University. He is also a co-founder of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, which advocates military restraint and a greater reliance on diplomacy. In "The Limits of Power: The End of American Exceptionalism," Bacevich connects excessive consumption, expanding executive power, and dependence on military force as mutually reinforcing problems confronting the United States. The book challenges the assumption that military superiority can secure American leadership abroad and argues for a foreign policy grounded in a realistic recognition of national limits.
