Amanda Brown（アマンダ・ブラウン）は、イギリスの医師、作家。長年にわたり一般開業医（GP）として地域医療に携わった後、イギリスの少年院や刑務所へ活躍の場を移し、医療に加え、受刑者の心身のケアや更生支援に取り組んできた。ロンドンのHM Prison Wormwood Scrubsや、ヨーロッパ最大級の女子刑務所であるHM Prison Bronzefieldなどで勤務した経験を持ち、刑務所医療の現場を率直に描いたノンフィクションで広く知られている。2019年刊行の『The Prison Doctor』では、受刑者の診療を通して見えてきた犯罪、依存症、精神疾患、貧困、家族関係などの問題を、人間への深い共感をもって描き、大きな反響を呼んだ。その後も The Prison Doctor: Women Inside、The Prison Doctor: The Final Sentence などを刊行し、英国の刑務所医療の実情を伝え続けている。
Dr Amanda Brown is a British physician and author best known for her memoirs about working in the UK prison system. After spending around two decades as a general practitioner, she transitioned to prison medicine, serving in young offenders' institutions, HM Prison Wormwood Scrubs, and later at HM Prison Bronzefield, one of Europe's largest women's prisons. Her writing offers a compassionate and unflinching look at the realities of prison healthcare, exploring issues such as mental illness, addiction, violence, trauma, and rehabilitation. Her bestselling memoir The Prison Doctor (2019) recounts her experiences caring for some of Britain's most notorious prisoners and has been followed by The Prison Doctor: Women Inside and The Prison Doctor: The Final Sentence.
