アフィニティ・コナー（Affinity Konar）は、アメリカの小説家。ポーランド系ユダヤ人の家系に生まれ、カリフォルニアで育つ。サンフランシスコ州立大学でフィクションを学び、コロンビア大学でMFAを取得。2009年に "The Illustrated Version of Things"（未邦訳）でデビューした。代表作『パールとスターシャ』（原題 Mischling）は『The New York Times Book Review』の2016年Notable Bookに選出された。同作では、1944年に母や祖父とともにアウシュヴィッツへ送られ、ヨーゼフ・メンゲレによる双子への人体実験の対象となった12歳の姉妹パールとスターシャを主人公に、収容所で互いを支えながら生き延びようとする日々と、やがて引き離された二人が再会を求める過程を描いている。
Affinity Konar is an American novelist of Polish Jewish descent who was raised in California. She studied fiction at San Francisco State University and received an MFA from Columbia University. Her books include "The Illustrated Version of Things" and "Mischling," which was named a 2016 New York Times Book Review Notable Book. Set in Auschwitz in 1944, "Mischling" follows twelve-year-old twin sisters Pearl and Stasha, who are selected for Josef Mengele's experiments on twins. The novel depicts the private language and games through which the sisters try to preserve their bond and identities amid the violence of the camp, and their struggle to find one another after they are separated.
