Adam Haslett (1970–) is an American novelist and short story writer whose fiction explores loneliness, loss, mental illness, and family relationships. His debut collection, “You Are Not a Stranger Here,” was a finalist for the 2002 National Book Award for Fiction and the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. His first novel, “Union Atlantic,” won the Lambda Literary Award. “Imagine Me Gone,” a finalist for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, follows a family across decades through the alternating perspectives of its five members, examining how mental illness shapes their lives.
