略歴(Biography)

東圭一(あずま・けいいち、1958年生まれ)は、日本の時代小説作家。大阪市生まれ。神戸大学工学部卒業後、IT企業に勤務するかたわら創作活動を続け、2012年に『足軽塾大砲顛末』で第19回九州さが大衆文学賞大賞(笹沢左保賞)を受賞した。幕末から江戸時代を舞台に、史実を踏まえた緻密な時代考証と、躍動感あふれる物語で注目を集めている。2023年、『奥州狼狩奉行始末』で第15回角川春樹小説賞を受賞し、翌年には同作で第13回日本歴史時代作家協会賞新人賞を受賞した。著書に『足軽塾大砲顛末』『来世の記憶―鍋島佐賀藩の奇跡』『奥州狼狩奉行始末』『深川青春捕物控』シリーズなどがある。

Keiichi Azuma (born 1958) is a Japanese historical novelist. Born in Osaka, he graduated from Kobe University with a degree in engineering and pursued a career in the IT industry while writing fiction. He made his literary debut in 2012 when "Ashigaru-juku Taihō Tenmatsu" won the Grand Prize (the Sasazawa Saho Prize) at the 19th Kyushu Saga Popular Literature Award. Known for combining meticulous historical research with fast-paced storytelling, he writes novels set primarily in the Edo and Bakumatsu periods. In 2023, his novel "Ōshū Ōkami-gari Bugyō Shimatsu" won the 15th Kadokawa Haruki Novel Prize, and the following year it received the 13th Japan Historical Novel Writers Association New Writer Award. His other notable works include "Memories of the Next Life: The Miracle of the Saga Nabeshima Clan" and the "Fukagawa Seishun Torimonochō" series.
