Jose Ando (1994–) is a Japanese novelist. He made his literary debut in 2022 when "Jackson Hitori" won the 59th Bungei Prize. His fiction explores race, gender, sexuality, and identity through bold, inventive narratives that challenge conventional social norms. Following consecutive Akutagawa Prize nominations for "Jackson Hitori" and "Meisaishoku no Otoko" ("The Camouflage-Colored Man"), he won the 172nd Akutagawa Prize in 2025 for "DTOPIA." Widely recognized as one of the leading voices of a new generation of Japanese writers, Ando is noted for his original vision and incisive engagement with contemporary society.
