Yukiko Anamizu is a Japanese translator of books on natural science, the environment, and international development. She graduated in sociology from Tokyo Woman’s Christian University, worked for an energy-related company, and completed a master’s course in interpreting and translation at the University of Bath. In Jonathan Drori’s “Around the World in 80 Plants,” she translated an account connecting the biology of plants with food, medicine, and cultural practices across the world. Her translation of Arik Kershenbaum’s “The Zoologist’s Guide to the Galaxy” examined what evolution on Earth might suggest about life elsewhere. The book considers movement, intelligence, communication, and other biological problems that organisms may encounter on different planets. Anamizu was also a co-translator of the World Bank’s “World Development Report 2012: Gender Equality and Development.” That report examined inequalities in education, health, economic participation, and other areas, alongside their implications for development policy.
