赤根 洋子（AKANE Yoko）- 翻訳家

赤根 洋子は、ドイツ語・英語の小説や歴史、科学のノンフィクションを手がける翻訳家。早稲田大学大学院修士課程でドイツ文学を学んだ。ハンス・ファラダの『ベルリンに一人死す』では、ナチ体制下で抵抗を試みる市井の人々を描く小説を訳した。スティーヴン・ワインバーグの『科学の発見』は、古代から近代に至る自然の説明方法の変化を追い、科学が成立してきた過程を検討する本である。2026年にはデイヴィッド・サムソンの『分断と排除の人類史』が刊行され、人間が集団への帰属を求める性質と、集団間の対立をめぐる議論を訳している。

Yoko Akane translates German- and English-language fiction and nonfiction on history and science. She studied German literature in a master’s program at Waseda University. Her translation of Hans Fallada’s Alone in Berlin follows ordinary people attempting resistance under the Nazi regime. Steven Weinberg’s To Explain the World traces changing explanations of nature from antiquity to the emergence of modern science. In 2026, her translation of David Samson’s Our Tribal Future appeared in Japanese as Bundan to Haijo no Jinruishi, examining the human drive to belong to groups and the conflicts that arise between them.
