Miwako Akamatsu is a Japanese scholar of Taiwanese literature, translator, and Professor at Osaka Metropolitan University. Her research focuses on Taiwanese literature, modern Chinese literature, and Sinophone studies, and she has devoted her career to introducing literary works from the Chinese-speaking world to Japanese readers through both scholarship and translation. Her work has contributed significantly to the international appreciation of Taiwanese literature and broader East Asian literary culture. Her best-known work, "Taiwan Bungaku no Chūshin ni Aru Mono" ("At the Heart of Taiwanese Literature"), examines the history, diversity, and cultural significance of Taiwanese literature.
